Dressing up
We have different phases of dressing up all through our lives and with each phase our personality seems to travel a level higher.
Dressing up children is like sitting for the final round of a personal interview in an MNC. Kids have their own choice/ opinion/ likes/ dislikes and they are simply never tired of going through the entire dress up session again and again unless ‘they’ are satisfied. Did I hear you say, “I don’t agree”? Well yes, all kids are not so. But then most parents for at least once in their lives do confront such a situation.
Kids as we say are normally between the ages of 1-9. Okay you may add on a few more years! It’s during this phase that our sense and knowledge of fashion, material, colour, and of course choice; goes through innumerable tests as our kids piling up comments (positive or negative) on their attire ultimately hit our scoreboard. On a personal note, I would like to add here that kids look good only when their dress up is done as it should be for a kid, i.e., without any makeup, cosmetics, ornaments or accessories. Their real self looks unblemished and pure only when it is left to shine on its own.
Now let’s take the elevator to the second floor. Teenage - yes that’s where the elevator just stopped. On this floor generally there is an icon who dominates the rest of the textile industry. Quite surprisingly, a lot of dressing up here takes place for once in a lifetime only. Clue to this floor: opinions are not entertained/ asked for/ appreciated!! Just to remind you this is only a gateway to a lot more of dress up ahead. So it’s not necessarily bad here. You could pass through few cubicles of questions though!
It’s now time for the next level. Up here it’s more of tradition, family, age, society and personal choice/ style as well. Nothing specific to list out, just that anybody dressing up as per their age and body frame looks good. Well, that’s what all of us try mostly, but sometimes, it simply happens to be a bad hair day or something else of similar hue.
Whatever the occasion/ style/ choice or reason of attire maybe, the last leaf here remains true for all of us, and that is- beauty lies in the inner self. We may look perfect but somewhere we loose it, if we are unable to do well unto others!
