Healthy Kids Make A Happy Family
Issues integral to the life of every family are security, wealth, health and kids. We are all aware that parenting is the act of raising and rearing a child with love, care and devotion. What follows then is to make special effort towards both; kids and healthy living. Healthy kids make a happy family. So it becomes almost imperative to be mindful of the following points;
Being Active: An active kid is a happy kid. Kids need to do at least 60 minutes of physical activity that gets their heart beating faster than usual. And they need to do it every day to burn off calories and prevent them storing up excess fat in the body which can lead to cancer, type two diabetes and heart disease. It also keeps their bones healthy and encourages muscle strength and flexibility.This can be done by involving them in activities like dancing, skipping, swimming and the like.
Eating Healthy: This means eating fruits and vegetables and cutting back on sugar, fats and junk foods. Parents, in this context, need to be health conscious and offer only those foods that are rich in nutrition.Fruits and vegetables are packed with essential vitamins and minerals needed for avoiding nasty diseases like cancer and heart problems.
Regular meal times: Discipline is important for a healthy living. It should be adhered to in every aspect of man’s life, work or play. Eating during regular meal times helps in being healthy, hearty and happy. Kids should, therefore, be encouraged to follow the eating regime and not munch every now and then.
Keeping the household child safe and having a first-aid kit at all times: Learning what to do in case of emergencies and having a first aid kit is extremely important. Gathering information on symptons and treatment of some common illnesses like cough, fever, diarrhoea, dehydration is a must for every parent to be. Choosing safe baby products like toys which should be bought according to the age guidelines on the product; they should not have sharp edges or small parts that are at the risk of being swallowed . The household must also be checked for safety like the electrical equipments, furniture, stairways, the kid's play area and so on. Telephone numbers of doctors, hospitals and other emergencies should be well placed and easily accessible.
The family bond: A happy and a secure child is a healthy child. Kids have tender hearts and are often shaken by bullies, unnecessary academic pressure, conflicts at home or death of a near and dear one. Parents need to play a positive role in helping the kid handle these conditions which may result in stress, anxiety and thwarted self-confidence. So loads of love, warmth and support to kids can help in the healthy development of a child like nothing else. In this sense, families with grandparents are the lucky ones as grandparents have that which the kid needs in abundance; warmth, affection, time, attention, humour, care and blessings.
