Making Expectant Fathers Ready For The Hospital Stay

Baby's arrival day is a very eventful one. Everyone around wants to be sure that they are ready for it. Sometimes during the whole process, the needs of the expectant father may be overlooked. So there is a list below which will remind you of the basic things you need to carry to the hospital.

You should contact the hospital to know about the basic facilities which are provided by the hospital which may be needed by the expectant father. They may include the cafetaria availibility, parking facilities and the services which the hospital offers. Once you find out all this you can add the necessary items to your hospital bag. These necessary items may include:

• The basic toiletries like your soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair care products etc. You should think twice before taking any colognes as the strong odour may bother some other patients and people in the hospital.
• Some clothes in which you may be comfortable to sleep. This may include a pair of pajamas. As you may have sleepless nights with the baby, comfortable clothes are a necessary part of the list.
• You should carry money to pay for the parking bills and the vending machines.
• Carry some snacks and beverages along with you. Choose the snacks which may not have a strong aroma and which may not cause nausea to the mom. You may also want to slip out of the labour room and gulp in some snacks if you are hungry. But this will not be allowed inside the labour room.
• Keep your eye glasses along with you. Even if you wear contact lenses you should carry your eye glasses along with you.
• If the delivery is supposed to be a scheduled c-section, you should keep in mind that you may need to stay for as long as four to five days. So pack enough so that you may not need to come back home.

When your wife is thirty six weeks pregnant, you should start packing your bags. If the pregnancy is a high risk one, you can pack as early as thirty two weeks. And once your bags are already packed you can wait for the next job that is labour.
