Guilt in Kids
In the busy labyrinths of countless feelings and emotions, the staircases of guilt are rather long. Certain headlights flick guilt in us quite clearly, while few keep piling up in the dark. Just to remind you, when it comes to guilt in kids its then more of exploring the reason and then somehow being unable to hide/stop ones laughter!
It is generally difficult to read one’s mind and toddler’s feelings are no less. They rather come as a package as they don’t glide on a particular emotion for too long. In the time span of 15 minutes you can well count up to 3-4 such variations.
It all begins with the idea of conquering such an object which is either not feasible or is possible in some other planet only. It could also be related to a kid’s dangerous level of enthusiasm or his terrific sense of imagination, or his devilish temptations which just can’t stop him from his uttermost favourite candy/ cookie etc.
That way guilt in kids is quite technical. Wondering how? Think over. As soon as something goes wrong, kids naturally either become quite, or tend to be very close to their mothers, or try to hide away, run away, smile vaguely, or try meticulously to put things back in order, or try to be very normal, or simply play foolish wise by themselves asking, ‘what’s wrong?’. The fun part is their innocence can’t hold you back for long. Once we figure out the real mischief, we do loose our head and almost chop them down. But after a while, it does tickle us giving way to a small giggle maybe!
So for all the times when the chocolates were misplaced, the lipstick was in two pieces, the cell phone was switched off, the pen didn’t write anymore, the computer was on standby, the volume of the radio was suddenly too low, all the mothers of his batch mates had a complain…. (Yeah, you can happily continue!), try pointing out one such event which did not end on a joyful note!
While trying to decipher a toddler’s feelings, we do happen to learn a lot more about humans and as is said, ‘child is the father of man’, it suddenly makes a huge amount of sense to us. Their feelings do have a lot to unfold!
