Changes one must expect in their breasts during pregnancy

One can see remarkable changes in their body during pregnancy. One gains a lot of weight, skin changes occur and there are changes in the breasts as well. Though the changes in the breast can mostly be seen only during the first pregnancy.

Early changes in the breast during pregnancy

Women are mostly fascinated by the changes they see in their breast size during pregnancy. In the early stages of pregnancy one can see prominent changes in their breasts. In most of the cases the breasts become sore. This can be seen in the first or second week after the conception. Some women also experience a tingly feeling in their nipples or sore nipples. While some also find their breasts swelling or enlarging. Some may find these changes similar to what they experience just before the start of menstruation, or an exaggerated form of those. One may also find their breasts becoming tender within the fourth or sixth week of their pregnancy. This generally stays throughout the first trimester.

Later changes in the breast

Most of the women can see a continued growth in their breasts all along their pregnancy. Many of them can find their breast size increasing by one cup size. All these changes can be seen in the first pregnancy. The subsequent pregnancies will not bring the same amount of changes in your breast.
One can also experience itching as the breasts grow. This is because the breast prepares itself to feed the child with milk. Some can also find stretch marks on their breasts,as the size of the breasts grow. One can lessen both the itching as well as the stretch marks with the help of a good quality moisturizer.

In the sixth week one can find the nipples growing in size and the veins of the breasts becoming more prominent. This happens due to the increased circulation of blood. The small bumps known as Montgomery's tubercles present around the areola become more prominently visible.

In the later half of the second trimester or the early period of the third trimester some women can experience breast leaking premilk or colostrum. People who do not experience this must consider themselves lucky, but those who do cannot do anything about it except use nursing pads which will absorb them and keep your breast dry as well as save you from any embarrassing moments.

Breast support during pregnancy

To support the growing breast, one must wear supportive bras, that one can easily get from the market. Avoid under the wire bras as they may lead to clogging of milk ducts. Bras that do not have wires and instead have pads to provide support to your breasts are better. One can also use sleep bras to have a comfortable sleep at night. Some even find the sports bras comfortable during the pregnancy as well as after the pregnancy.

Maternity bras are also very good during these times and are efficient in supporting your growing breasts. These bras are also made of stretchable material to support the growing breasts. These bras are used after the pregnancy also as the breast size increases more when you start feeding your baby.

People who exercise during the pregnancy must use a stronger exercise bra so that it can easily support your growing breasts. Some women even wear more than one bra to provide greater comfort to their breasts. One must keep bras in two three sizes handy as your breast may undergo several changes during the pregnancy.
Do not be scared when you breast returns to the normal size as you had before conceiving or even a little smaller than that. This is absolutely normal and can be called the side effect of becoming pregnant. Do not take it as a side effect of breastfeeding.
