Automobile Risk & Pregnancy

Road accidents have surpassed most of the deadly diseases with respect to the death toll. What are the reasons behind this? Are these due to lack of safety features in our vehicles or lack of self discipline on our parts? Teens are mostly involved in cases of reckless driving and cause the majority of accidents. Thus, adopting sterner rules can make the roads safer.

Injury deterrence experts after conducting surveys have concluded that most people reluctantly wear seat belts whilst driving. Moreover, it was found that more than half the population of teens buckled up while driving but around 35% did the same while they were traveling as passengers. This is an alarming situation as those sitting on the passenger seats are as much vulnerable as the driver himself. These surveys are conducted each year by the concerned authorities to track the number of road accidents and thus formulating novel regulations to enhance safety of the public.

Seat belts, alone, can lessen the risk of injury in crashes by a considerable percentage. So many drives have been initiated by the governments and non-governmental organizations that make the use of seat belts mandatory among drivers as well as the passengers and spread awareness among the masses. Stricter rules need to be implemented to ensure the safety on the roads. The officers in charge should be given the authority to issue a ticket to all those motorists who violate seat belt laws. This will make certain that people buckle themselves up securely. More awareness campaigns and road safety weeks need to be celebrated. These automobile constraints should be incorporated in education and the parents should also monitor their children regarding this as the accident frequency is very high among teens.

Another problem encountered is that the pregnant women don’t use seat belts for the fear that the fetus may be affected. Medical experts apprize that seat belts must be worn at all times and by doing so, one is protecting the fetus as well as oneself in case of a car crash. Air bags are also a must as they protect you from any kind of a head injury. In case of pregnant women, one should shift the seat back and tilt it and maintain some distance between the belly and the dashboard.

And most important point to mention is that driving while you are drunk is a strict no-no. Even the passengers should abstain from it. Laws against this are stringent and hefty fines may be issued. Driving in the designated speed limit is advised as again, your license can also be taken if you are caught over speeding.
Drive responsibly and help make the roads safer.
