A Guide to a Healthy Diet, Well Being and Sex during Pregnancy
The health of the baby depends on the health of the mother. Your health and well-being is extremely important during the pregnancy and post pregnancy. If it is a planned pregnancy, then it is advisable that the would-be-mother should start in taking a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet and should switch to a healthy lifestyle.
- Healthy Diet: Consume nutritious and light food and try eating seven small portions to avoid nausea and acidity. Try to incorporate food belonging to all six-food families: vitamins, carbohydrates, calcium, minerals, fibre, proteins and iron. Drink at least eight glass of water, lower your intake of salt, spicy and fried food. What you eat decides the amount and quality of nutrients that reach your unborn baby. It is extremely important to lay stress on a nutritious and well balanced diet in the first trimester as that is the time when the baby’s organs are formed and mental development takes place. There is no need to increase your diet in the first two trimesters, but you need additional 200 calories in the third trimester.
- Well-being: pregnancy can be tough on one’s body and mind. However, there are ways to reduce and avoid the discomforts. Do not stress your back and do not stand for longer periods. Take ample rest and sleep. Your well-being is extremely important to keep you cheerful and stress free during pregnancy. To be comfortable wear special plus size or maternity clothes, wear light shades and fabrics like cotton and linen, flat and comfortable shoes. In addition, you need to be careful and take it easy if you have a plus size pregnancy to remain comfortable and hearty.
- Exercise: exercise is beneficial normally and very beneficial during pregnancy. Exercise makes your heart pump, increases the oxygen level, makes you fit and active. During pregnancy, exercise can do wonders for your unborn baby’s health. Consult your doctor and indulge in any light exercise form like walking, jogging, swimming, yoga or aerobics. However, one should always consult a doctor and prefer exercising under the supervision of a professional, as not every exercise is good for all pregnant women. Be cautious and take it easy.
- Sex during Pregnancy: There are numerous doubts, confusions and myths in a young couples mind about sex during pregnancy. Sex is a want and desire of human beings and it is normal to crave for it and indulge in it during pregnancy. However, during pregnancy, a woman might have a fluctuating sexual desires or less confidence in bed due to her increased size, but there are ways to even conquer that.
