You are pregnant and waiting for that ultimate moment when you will give birth to a child and become a mother. You already expect that you will change diapers one day and suddenly you realise that your pregnancy is over. You realise you have lost your baby no matter what name you give to it like stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage.
There are different ways which can result in pregnancy loss. If it is case of miscarriage then it leads to pregnancy loss before even 20 weeks of pregnancy is completed. Miscarriages normally take place when there is a genetic problem in the fetus of the pregnant women. In case of ectopic pregnancy, it takes place outside the uterus and in this case the fetus does not survive. There is also molar pregnancy. In molar pregnancy, at the beginning of it a mass or growth takes place within the uterus. Most often there is no fetus. Pregnancy loss is called stillbirth if it happens after the initial 20 weeks.
Given below is a brief insight of the different aspects of pregnancy loss:
When a pregnancy ends on its own within the first 20 weeks then it is called miscarriage. It is one of the most common form of pregnancy loss. Research and studies have revealed that around 20% to 25% of all pregnancies which have been clinically recognised end in a miscarriage. On the other hand chemical pregnancies include 50% to 75% of all miscarriages that takes place. This takes place shortly after implantation when a pregnancy is lost. It further results in bleeding that takes place around the time of expected period. In case of chemical pregnancies, many times the woman does not even realise that she is pregnant.
During pregnancy, the miscarriages are very common during the first 13 weeks. Pregnancy is a something that everyone is excited about. But gradually there are more number of recognised miscarriages taking place. Thus in such situation it is important to be informed about it.
Infact miscarriages can be referred to in different and confusing moments and terms. There are many types of miscarriages they all have different treatments. The statistics are also different of what are your chances of coming across a miscarriage.
When there is a loss of pregnancy due to natural causes well after 20 weeks of being pregnant then is the case of stillbirth. A stillbirth can occur before or during the delivery. If the mother experiences some decrease in the movement of the fetus then there are chances of a stillbirth. The healthcare provider can confirm the status by performing an ultrasound. If the baby is found to be dead then an autopsy or placental examination is performed to find out why the baby died.
Stillbirth normally occurs if there is a problem with the placenta or if there is any other physical problem. It also happens if the fetus is small or not growing enough according to its gestational age. Bacterial infection also leads to the death of the fetus.
Pregnancy happens because of fertilized eggs. If the pregnancy is normal then the egg attaches itself to the uterus lining. But in case of ectopic pregnancy the fertilized egg implants itself in some other place.
These three are basically the different aspects of pregnancy loss.
