A Few Suggestions to make the Kids School Lunches Fun
Homework, studies, bag full of books, games, and tiffin time, this all make us nostalgic about our school days. How we used to fuss over homework and insisted on playing all day. School Lunches made by mother used to be so boring and repetitive. But then we were kids and didn't understood half of the logic behind many things and now its our turn to be a parent and be responsible and understanding for our kids.
Making kids understand the benefit of nutritious diet is very arduous task. Nowadays, due to availability of so many variety of fast foods children insist on eating outside food. Following their friends, they also love to eat pizza, burger and other fat enriched foods during lunch time. Research says that more than half of the parents have no idea on what to pack in their kids lunch box.
Packing Child's School Lunch sometimes gives us nightmares. Kids, doesn't want to eat the home cooked food and so we have to pack lunch of their choice which is usually full of fat increasing contents. Research have shown that 1 out of 3 kids are found obese these days due to unhealthy eating habits.
To pack a nice and healthy lunch for the kids, first learn to make the nutritious food look tasty. Children primarily focus on visually attractive food. If the food looks good then atleast they will give it a thought of eating. Here are few tips on what to pack for the School Lunches for the kids:
- Whatever is cooked, make it look trendy. Thus other children will catch on it and not tease our kids over their lunch.
- Start packing lunch box with main items. There are many lunch-size canned pasta available at a reasonable price from many grocers. If we want that our kids have home-cooked food, prepare any of these meals for dinner, along with others that family enjoys, then freeze leftovers for lunch.
- Vegetables are very important to provide fibre and other vital nutrients to the kids. So do pack veggies in the lunch.
- Kids like fruits and they can be fun too. Pack some freshly washed apples, grapes or peaches in the child's lunch box.
- Experiment with flavors, textures, colors, wrappings and styles to make lunch a fun and enjoyment time for the child. Include a cut-out of newspaper cartoon or joke or a short note of encouragement to let the child know that they are in our thoughts. Make lunchtime a bonding time in more ways than just food!
