It is observed that the challenge continues for working mothers as mostly of them are trying to balance time spent at the office and at home. A recently conducted survey reveals that every one-in-three working mothers are dissatisfied with their balance of work and life. The survey also reveals that almost 38 percent of working mothers are willing to take a pay cut for a better balance of work and life.

It is a known fact that balancing a 40-hour work week with a full-time career as mom can be a tough job. To manage work and life in a better style, a woman who goes to work has to make variety of work-style adjustments. Almost twenty-two percent take personal days off to take care of their family needs. There are nearly Fifteen percent working mothers who take advantage of flexible schedules.
Companies are acknowledging the need to help employees find relief for time-management pressures at work and home by offering options such as telecommuting and job sharing. These innovations are very popular amongst working mothers and employers. Sixty-six percent of working mothers feel that their employers are tolerant of a shortened workday due to a child's needs.

Telecommuting
This is considered as a great option for employees who do not interact with customers face-to-face. It is observed that everyone loves an extra half-hour of sleep. This also saves on the expenses such as childcare and commuting costs.
Flexible and part-time schedules.
Most of the companies are now offering varying start and end times for salaried positions. Many workers feel very happy with this kind of flexibility.
Compressed work week
This is also one of the best options available to working mothers to work longer hours throughout the week in exchange for a full or partial day off. Various companies offer employees the opportunity to work for ten hour everyday for one day off during the week. This is a great option for those workers with long commutes. This is also a fantastic idea for those working mothers who want more time for extended weekend activities and family time.
Job sharing
Mostly working mothers prefers opting for part-time option. In this situation, two employees work as a team to fulfil the duties of one full-time position. But this arrangement requires lot of planning and cooperation. Most of the employers favour this option because it means a substantial cost savings for the company. In addition, job sharing employees most also often work for each other on sick days and during extended absences.
