Depression is possible both during pregnancy as well as after pregnancy. Though for most of the women it is time when they feel a lot of excitement, there are some who feel depressed sometimes. If the symptoms of depression becomes too significant one will have to undergo treatment.
Pregnancy is supposed to bring a lot of glow and cheerfulness in a woman's life. This notion creates a lot of pressure on the women to be cheerful throughout the pregnancy and not feel any sadness or feeling of disregard during pregnancy. The risk of development of post partum depression increases in these women. This hinders the women from taking care of herself or the developing baby. The main cause of depression during pregnancy is the fluctuation in the hormone levels. Since these fluctuations are very rapid, they affect the chemical level in the brain. This causes mood swings. This is most common reason of depression in pregnancy especially during the first trimester and the third trimester of the pregnancy. The anxiety level is different in each individual women. One can try simple steps to prevent depression during pregnancy. One must take plenty of rest. Many times even lack of sleep may trigger depression. One must bond with their spouse during pregnancy. Spend some quality as well as private time with your partner.
